Flickr isn't going to disappear any time soon. Flickr has not made it as easy for the mobile user and other services have. The main point of this post is you need a photo sharing service unless you're running a powerful server. From what I recall (and my memory is not stellar), Flickr had been on the chopping block at least once, but was saved by its fans and a reality slap from someone internally.

I'm a moderately heavy user and fan of the site. I used the word killed in the title because it seems that the service doesn't have much chance of becoming the superstar at this point. It could be much more it would be a lot stronger if they had kept up. I agree with the Gizmodo piece and the spirit of that piece is that Yahoo! has severely limited and messed up Flickr. NOTE: I made a comment below to try and clarify my title. It is also an excellent read for photographers and makers/small biz owners who are using Flickr or another service to share their photos. And, I just finished Thomas Hawk's thoughtful response post on the Gizmodo piece. Makers feel free to chime in with your favorite photo sharing service.
